Muhammad Mikhail Bin Ramdan from 3 Pearl has been training with the Woodlands Wellington Football Club all this while. He was selected to join the NFA in 2012. This year, he was selected to travel with the NFA teams to Osaka, Japan for a training tour between Feb and Mar 2013.

Total Defence Day 2013: Will You Stand With Me?

In conjuction of the commemoration of Total Defence Day 2013 on this coming Friday (15th of February), all students will be experiencing no-light-no-fan for 30 minutes. The school canteen vendors will be selling “war-time” food items made from potatoes and sweet potatoes during both lower and upper secondary recesses. Students are allowed to bring their own food for their recess. We seek your understanding and support, as we want our students to appreciate the importance of Total Defence.
Self-Directed Learning and Collaborative Learning Workshops for Teachers

On 21 and 28 January 2013, Dunearn Secondary School organised for its teachers a school-based workshop on Self-Directed Learning (SDL) and Collaborative Learning (COL) during the TPT sessions to enhance teacher’s proficiency in the 21st century classrooms.

School Family Education Talks in January

On 14 January 2013, Sec 1 students attended a talk on “Resilience - Key to Managing Transition to Secondary One”. Students learned the importance of self-acceptance and having the right belief system in developing a resilient mindset.

Self Nomination Form for 9th Student Council (2013)
To all current Secondary 3 students,
2012 has been an enriching and amazing year for the 8th Student Council. As we move on, 2013 marks the beginning of a new round of selection for the 9th Student Council, where they embark on an exciting leadership journey together and give their very best to the school.
Current Secondary 3 pupils who are keen to take up the challenge of planning and managing school events and volunteer yourselves as representatives of the student body, can nominate themselves by completing the Online Self-Nomination form for the 9th Student Council (2013).
Guidelines for 9th Student Council Self-Nomination:
- Self Nomination will begin on Friday, 25 January 2013, 12pm.
- The deadline for submission is Friday, 1 February 2013, 6pm.
- Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
- CCA leaders are not automatically included in the 9th Student Council, hence self/staff-nomination is required. Please check with your CCA Teachers-in-Charge.
- Please provide honest and accurate feedback in the nomination form.
Release of 2012 GCE O’Level Results in DSS

On Thursday, 10 January 2013, the much anticipated 2012 GCE O-Level results were released in the school hall in the presence of 2012 candidates, their form and subject teachers, together with the current batch of Sec 4 Express and 5 Normal Academic students.
Personal Enrichment Session for Dunearnites Staff

On 14 January 2013, some eighty teachers gathered at the library for a TPT personal enrichment session to make sense of “Clothes maketh the man”. Ms Nina Chia, a certified image consultant, engaged through the School Family Education (SFE) took the staff through a 1.5 hour journey on how to set up a basic wardrobe, match colours and dress suitably for an occasion. The session was conducted in a light-hearted manner, interspersed with some hilarious moments when teachers were called up to be models. Teachers are role models to students, and certainly their physical image make a difference too.
